Chief Estimator

Full Time

This company has a mandatory vaccination requirement.

The Chief Estimator is responsible for the oversight of the estimating process for all projects bid and awarded.  In addition, the Chief Estimator will establish standard procedures, methods and processes for the estimating department.  Specific tasks include, but are not limited to submitting accurate pricing, presenting proposals, negotiating with vendors, as well as sending timely and complete communications to all project team members.

Job Description:

  • Reviews Owner’s RFQ for revenue and margin potential and recommends to the Company Officers for approval prior to bid
  • Collects all drawings, specifications, and available job information for potential projects
  • Reviews contract and gain approval from Exec. Team prior to bid
  • Oversees metal stud framing, plaster and carpentry trades
  • Reviews general contractors’ contract to confirm scope and pricing prior to contract execution
  • Attends all appropriate job walks
  • Completes accurate and timely takeoffs
  • Reviews material costs and extend pricing
  • Reviews proposals prior to submission to clients
  • Manages profiles and proposals from projected subcontractors
  • Provides statement of qualification and capability
  • Maintains up-to-date material pricing information
  • Maintains of up-to-date production rates
  • Solicits estimates from subcontractors for work outside the internal capabilities of the company
  • Conduct business development research for prospective clients
  • Pursue business development leads and create/cultivate business relationships
  • Attend conferences and industry events
  • Mentoring Estimating team to reach their full potential

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 15+ years of construction / estimating experience with projects valued at $5 million and above
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, On Center Suite (OST and Quick Bid) and other construction related software
  • Competent in scheduling, cost management, and estimating
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Excels at customer relations
  • Excellent financial forecasting and reporting abilities
  • Consistent uncompromising commitment to delivering quality work
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
